Warming up: word list

1. Choose two words from your wordlist.

2. Make example sentences using at least 2 of the words in one sentence.

3. Make them meaningful!

4. Write your answer down.

Warming up, words:

and add 2 words of your own choice.

Examples: 

- from context

- recognise part of the word

- looks like a Dutch word

Let's see: 

Technique 1: From context

- That shabby building at the end of the street should be taken down. It's almost falling apart. 

- That corner is dangerous for pedestrians. It's well-known place for accidents. The shrubs hide anyone that's crossing. 

- This is my least favourite part of the city. It's so dreary with all the run-down houses and dying trees. 

Technique 2: Recognise parts

I love your house, it's so spacious.

We should really go and check out all the famous landmarks of Paris. 

I live in the outskirts of Manhatten. 

Technique 3: Looks like Dutch

My friend always has to travel to the city to go to a mosque. 

The local facilities in this town are amazing. 

Denmark is known for its picturesque fishermen's villages, with coloured houses.
