Photosynthesis

Slide 3 - Slide

Producers - Plants are the basis
  • Green plants produce food using photosynthesis
  • Animals consume food
  • Producers are always the first part of the food chain

Slide 4 - Slide

Consumers
Animals consume (eat) substances made by plants (glucose)

Primary consumers: herbivores - eat the producers (plants)

Secondary consumers: carnivores/omnivores - eat the primary consumers

Cycle continues up the food chain.

Slide 5 - Slide

Scavengers
Scavengers eat dead material - dead animal or plant are used as food

Remains left by the scavengers are broken down by bacteria and fungi

Breakdown agents: return nutrients to be reused again. Always bacteria and fungi
