What are the witches' predictions?

  1. Macbeth will be the thane of Cawdor
  2. Macbeth will be king
  3. Banquo's children will be king

What effect do they have on Macbeth and Banquo? 
They don't believe them at first, but when Macbeth is named the thane of Cawdor shortly after, they start to think that the rest of the witches' predictions will also come true.

Macbeth and his wife plot to murder king Duncan.

Slide 7 - Slide

Macbeth and his wife frame two guards for the king's murder and Macbeth is named king shortly after.

Slide 8 - Slide

Macbeth and his wife become even more power hungry and start to worry about the third prediction. Their solution? Kill Banquo and his children.
(you can't be king when you're dead after all)

Macbeth begins to lose his mind and start seeing Banquo's ghost during a formal dinner.

Macbeth goes back to the witches, who deliver 3 more prophecies

1. "Beware Macduff; Beware the Thane of Fife."
2. "none of women born Shall harm Macbeth."
3. Macbeth has nothing to fear until "Great Birnam wood" moves to "high Dunsinane hill".

Macbeth has been reassured, he now thinks that no one will harm him, because everyone is born from a woman and forest can't move.

However...

Slide 12 - Slide

"Beware Macduff"
Macbeth is still a bit worried about Macduff when he learns that he is going to join Malcolm (king Duncan's son), so he moves to murder Macduff's wife and children, for which Macduff vows revenge.

Slide 13 - Slide

Lady Macbeth is also being eaten alive by guilt. She starts sleepwalking and tries to wash her hands clean of imaginary blood, which she is unable to.

She eventually commits suicide.

Slide 14 - Slide

 "Macbeth has nothing to fear until "Great Birnam wood" moves to "high Dunsinane hill" 
The soldiers that are approaching Macbeth's castle (on high Dunsinane hill) are shielding themselves with the branches from Great Birnam wood.

Slide 15 - Slide

"none of women born shall harm Macbeth."

Macduff kills Macbeth, Malcolm is to be crowned king.
