Slide 19 - Drag question

Goals
- You know what the most important traditional energy sources are and you know that the energy consumption per capita and the carbon footprint increased explosively for years.

- You understand why traditional energy sources are not sustainable and why an energy transition is needed.
- You can use a cross-section to decide whether natural gas and crude oil extractions are possible with conventional techniques.
- You understand the content of this section.

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
To limit/delay global warming different things can be done:
1.
slow down the population growth; according to the UN we will grow from 8 billion to 10 billion people in 2050. This growing population already needs almost two planets to be able to maintain its current standard of living.
2.
save energy; use less energy by changing your lifestyle. If you swap your regular hamburger for a vegetarian burger, you will save 7 square metres of land, enough water for a 10-minute shower and enough greenhouse gases for a 29-kilometre drive.
3.
capture and store greenhouse gases; for example, when making European charcoal, the strong greenhouse gas methane is captured and burned.
4.
make an energy transition. As you read in the previous section, it is necessary to switch to renewable energy, also known as green or sustainable energy. Think of solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, geothermal energy and biomass energy. Unfortunately, they all have disadvantages too.

Er zijn ook nadelen voor het gebruik van duurzame energiebronnen:
- Nemen naar verhouding veel ruimte in
- Zijn niet zo krachtig en betrouwbaar als fossiele brandstoffen

Slide 21 - Slide

Slide 22 - Video

A historical breakthrough
  • The Paris Climate Agreement focuses on an energy transition (source 11). Somewhere in the second half of this century, there must be a balance between man-made emissions and the capacity of forests and oceans to absorb CO2.
  • Rich countries have to reduce their emissions
  • Poor countries are encouraged to reduce their emissions.

  • Mostly because poor countries are still developing. MEDCs bear the greatest responsibility for global warming

Dus wat moet je doen?
Een kort stukje tekst dat je presenteert
om iemand te overtuigen
kort (2min)
waarbij je humor kunt gebruiken
ALS JE DE LUISTERAAR MAAR OVERTUIGD

Slide 31 - Slide

Stap 1: De elevator pitch openingszin
Een elevator pitch is ervoor bedoeld om iemand nieuwsgierig te maken. Als je iets vergeet of je pitch niet volledig is, geeft dat dus helemaal niet.

Slide 32 - Slide

Stap 1: De elevator pitch openingszin

Slide 34 - Slide

Verder nog belangrijk
 Neem de tijd op
Wees enthousiast
Gebruik relevante maar begrijpbare data
Data/feiten mag je visueel maken
Oefenen, oefenen en oefenen
GO!
