Why is a letter of application one of the most important letters you will ever write?

To start: Dear Sir/ Madam
                   Dear Mr .....
                   Dear Mrs/ Miss / Ms ........

To end: Yours faithfully,
                Yours sincerely,          

A mistake that is made often:
Dear Tom Brown,     > Dear Tom,     or       Dear Mr Brown,

Letter of Application - Body
Paragraph 1:  mention the job you are applying for, where you saw the job advertisment ( mention that you are attaching your CV.)
Paragraph 2: Give reasons for your interest in this job/ company.
DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS!! 
Paragraph 3: Refer the employer to specific information in your CV and show how this relates to the job.
Paragraph 4: Mention any other experience from school, part-time work or voluntary work which might be relevant to the job.
Paragraph 5: thank the reader, request an interview.

1. Use facts, dates and numbers.
I've got a tennis coaching qualification
In July 2012, I received  a Level 2 tennis coaching certificate.

2. Avoid quantifiers, like some, a lot of, many .....
I did some work in a shop.
I worked for Harry's Pie Place for three months in 2011.

3. Give specific examples of how your experience and skills match the employer's requirements.
I'm hard-working and reliable.
I had the opportunity to develop my customer service skills during my work experience with Rocket Records in August.

- review your first letter of application
- go to page 13 of WASP reporter and read the advertisments
- go to page 17 of your student file if you need support on the layout/contents. 
TASK: write a letter of application to Channel 4 / FashionUnited  (up to you which one you choose)
