Second Conditional

If school was cancelled today, what would you do?

If school was cancelled, I'd go to the beach.

What part-time job would you get if you needed some money?

I would work in a garden centre if I needed some money.

What's the structure/formula?

• if + past simple , would + verb
• would + verb...if + past simple

When do we use it?

• imaginary / hypothetical situation + result (in the present or future)
  

Notes

'd = would

If I/he/she/it + were = bc it's imaginary, we often use were!

(ipv If I/he/she/it was)

Wanneer: Als het onwaarschijnlijk/onrealistisch is dat er aan de voorwaarde voldaan kan worden = Dus, als iets onwaarschijnlijk is om te gebeuren - nu of in de toekomst.

Hoe: IF this thing happened (= (onrealistische) voorwaarde, past simple), that thing would happen (=resultaat, would + werkwoord)

resultaat + if zin (voorwaarde) = let op! zonder komma! 

IF I were Thanos, I would snap Trump away. / I would snap Trump away IF I were Thanos.
