You use will and to be going to when something is going to happen in the future
Af.: Are you hungry? I will get you something to eat.
Af.: Look at those clouds! It is going to rain in a minute.
Neg.: I won´t (will not) help you, you can do it yourself.
Neg.: I am not going to the party next Saturday.
Question: Will you make me something to eat?
Question: Are we going to watch Harry Potter?

When do you use will ± infinitive?
-spontaneous decisions in the future.
Ex.: Are you leaving? Wait! I will come with you!
-a prediction (voorspelling) without evidence/proof (bewijs).
Ex. I think we will go to Paris next summer, but I´m not sure.

When do you use will ± infinitive? (2)
-an offer (een aanbod)
Ex. I will help our neighbour with her groceries. 
-facts in the future.
Ex.: In 2030 everyone will have a computer.
Will/shall ± infinitive is the most basic way of refering to the future.

Note!
In the case of questions you always use shall with ‘I’ and ‘we’.
Will or shall > ‘ll
Will not > Won’t
Shall not > shan’t

When do you use to be going to ± infinitive
-what will surely happen, a prediction based on current evidence
Ex.: The sky looks dark. It is going to rain today.
-someone`s plans (what someone is planning to do).
Ex. We are going to New York on holiday next year. Dad has booked the tickets!
Ex.: She is going to ask Tom on a date.
