  • Tell a little bit about the famous person of your choice in English

  •  8 minute presentation in English about a famous person
  • Powerpoint or Prezi at least 8 slides: only keywords and pictures
  • Talk about the celebrity's life and carreer and add interesting facts!
  • You can use notes, but don't read from the paper
  • We will practice parts of your presentation in class

  •  You are graded on your use of English, pronunciation, fluency, grammar and content.
  • After your presentation your audience and/or your teacher will ask you some questions, so be prepared for that as well.
  • Your audience will only be the students that are presenting the same hour.
  • Not presenting? Use your time wisely for English/Other subjects.
  • Sign-in list will be shared shortly.

  • Look up some information about the person you chose
  • Also write down one important quote your famous person said (we will use that next lesson)
  • Last 5 minutes of this lesson: share what you found with your neighbour(s) in English.

  •  What is the difference between these sentences:
  • She said: "I'm home!" vs. She said (that) she was home.
  • She said: "Is was in NY last year." vs. She said (that) she had been in NY last year.
  • He says: "I have been fired." vs. He said (that) he had been fired.

Direct speech vs indirect speech
Present simple -> past simple
Past simple -> Past perfect
Present perfect -> Past perfect

Exercise
  •  Look at the quote of your famous person and make 2 sentences
  • One sentence in direct speech
  • One sentence in indirect speech
  • Example:
  • Direct speech: Ghandi said: "The future depends on what we do in the present"
  • Indirect speech: Ghandi said (that) the future depended on what we do in the present.
