§7.2 Exponential growth
The learning goals are:
+  how to recognise exponential growth
+  how to find the growth factor

Slide 1 - Slide

 §7.2 Exponential growth (??!)
Some basic knowledge
about Exponential growth.
After all, that is what the § is about!

Slide 2 - Slide

Exponential growth
If you multiply a number by the same factor every time for the same increase in units of time, we say there is exponential growth
We even call it this, if the factor you multiply by is between 0 and 1 (so a decrease !).
If there is exponential growth, we call the factor you multiply by, the growth factor.
Example: The number of bacteria  increases by 50% every day.

Slide 3 - Slide

Exponential growth
To check IF a table or graph corresponds to exponential growth, you have to calculate the growth factor for each pair of consecutive amounts. Because amounts are often rounded off, the growth factor is only approximately the same every time.
Now follows
a slide
on personal
growth!

Slide 5 - Slide

Let's do 17 now.
Open your Notebook  and write down your answers  in your Notebook.

Slide 6 - Slide

Suppose the growth factor is 0.87, then there is a decrease.

Slide 7 - Slide

Make question 17c now:

Task:
Now do 'd', using your Calculator.
FIVE calculations are asked from you!
Write them all down in your Notebook.
Finally COMPARE the five answers and draw a CONCLUSION.

Finally this important information,
summarising important things from 17, that we just made!

Homework
+  Make and correct §7.2
+  You may skip: 11 and 18.
+ Send in your Homework in GC.
+ One more remark-see next slide!

Slide 13 - Slide

If you do the Challenge, then you only have to do C3.
C4 is really a messy affair. Not clear at all.
Forget about C4 and do S13 or S18 instead!
