Mondeling Engels:

• 2 boeken van de lijst
• 1 vrij boek (mag dus van alles zijn)
• 2 gedichten
• 2 short stories

 2 titels van dezelfde auteur op je lijst: in principe niet, maar overleg met je docent als je goede redenen hebt om het wel te doen. 

In toetsweek 2, maar je mag het ook naar voren halen!

Het werk dat je kiest, moet passen binnen een thema!!!

 Thema's zijn meestal belangrijke lessen over het leven. 

 

Bijvoorbeeld, in A Christmas Carol van Charles Dickens, kunnen de lezers concluderen dat gierigheid kan leiden tot een ellendig, eenzaam bestaan.

Kies een thema dat bij je past, wat jij interessant vindt. Voorbeelden van thema's:

• adventure
• social classes
• feminism
• dystopia
• utopia
• good versus evil
• betrayal
• loyalty

• coming of age
• life and death
• family
• change versus tradition
• racism
• etc etc

Now, take five minutes to discuss which three themes appeal to you.

How to choose your books

• First decide on your theme
• There are several websites where you can find books (or stories) listed per theme.
• Some examples: 

library.sph.edu

www.bookpeople.com

Assignment

In the next 45 minutes 

• you are going to decide on a theme, 
• find at least 5 books with this theme and 
• read summaries of these books.
• Then find out if these books are in the school library. 
• If they are not available here, find out where you can borrow them (or buy them, or download them)
• Hand in your provisionary list, and include a time schedule.
