In this level, we are making a connection with our knowledge of mathematics. In mathematics class, you have studied de balansmethode. De balansmethode is a method to solve linear equations with an unknown variable x. In the next slide, you will see an example of the equations that you solved successfully in mathematics class. Look at this example if you need some help to remember this skill.

In this level, we are solving some equations with the balancing method and slowly moving from using numbers, to using letters (variables). 
If you get stuck with the questions, go back to slide number 3, where all the steps are visibly explained.

The most important step that you just completed in the examples above is isolating the x. Bring the x to one side of the equation. Now we can do the same if there were multiple variables in the formula. Check out the following examples:

We can also apply the rules of de balansmethode while working with variables (a,b,...). These variables can take any number as quantity later(see example above). Lets try to calculate with variables now.
