First conditional:

If-zin (present simple) + hoofdzin (will + hele ww)

If-sentences

Een if-sentence is een zin dat bestaat uit twee delen: een if-zin en een hoofdzin. De if-zin is de voorwaarde en de hoofdzin is het (waarschijnlijke) gevolg.

Vb:

• If you study hard, you will pass the test.

• If I won the lottery, I would buy a new house.

If-sentences: 2nd conditional

Second conditional:

If-zin (past simple) + hoofdzin (would+ hele ww)

If I won the lottery, I would be a millionaire.

Let op!

Soms staan de if-zin en hoofdzin omgedraaid. De betekenis blijft hetzelfde.

Wat weet je al van some & any?

Some(thing etc.) & any(thing etc.)

Some: gebruik bij bevestigende zinnen. Ook bij vragen waarbij je 'ja' als antwoord verwacht.

Voorbeeld:

I have some questions about the field trip?

Can I have some tea, please?

Some(thing etc.) & any(thing etc.)

Any: gebruik bij ontkennende zinnen en in alle andere vragen.

Voorbeeld:

We don't sell any seashells.

Do you have any cheese left?
