'The' gebruik je in het Engels niet bij:

1. Jaargetijden

5. Openbare gebouwen, zoals: de kerk, schoolgebouwen, etc.

WORD ORDER

De woordvolgorde in het Engels gaat als volgt:

FUTURE TENSE

Will         wordt gebruikt wanneer er een voorspelling wordt gemaakt. Example: ''In 5 years I will be graduated.''

Going to/Present continuous         wordt gebruikt als er iets op het punt staat te gebeuren (met bewijs) en/of gepland staat!

Example: ''It's going to rain in a minute!'' ''We are going to sell our house next month.'' ''I am seeing my grandmother on Sunday.'' 

Future tense

Present simple (future tense)        wordt gebruikt als het om tijden gaat (denk aan: aankomst- en vertrektijden, openings- en sluitingstijden en begin- en eindtijden. 

Example: ''Her train arrives at eleven o'clock.'' ''My holiday starts 21 July.'' ''The store closes at 7 pm.''

GERUND

1. De gerund wordt gemaakt door -ing achter het werkwoord te zetten. 
2. Er komt hier geen vorm van ‘to be’ voor, zoals dat bij de present continuous wel wordt gebruikt. 
3. Functioneert als zelfstandig naamwoord
4. Je gebruikt het na een rijtje specifieke woorden (you’ll have to study for these - zie leerdocument)
