Gerund

- Een gerund eindigt op "-ing" 

- Functioneert als zelfstandig naamwoord in een zin. 

- Vertegenwoordigt een actie, activiteit.

- Kan onderwerp van een zin zijn.

- Kan lijdend voorwerp of meewerkend voorwerp zijn.

3. His favourite hobby is playing the guitar. (aanvulling van het ww)

Explanation

In deze voorbeelden zijn 'swimming', 'reading', en 'playing' gerunds, omdat het allemaal ook zelfstandig naamwoorden zijn. 

Met Gerunds kunnen we over acties of activiteiten praten alsof het dingen of concepten zijn.

To infinitive

- The infinitive is the most basic form of a verb, such as "to run," "to eat," "to sing."

- Is used as nouns, adjectives, adverbs or a a verb form

Example --> She needs to practice her piano skills regularly.

I love ''swimming'' in the ocean.
