Valentine's Day comes from the feast " Lupercalia". 
Lupercalia was a feast to honour the Roman god of fertility and was celebrated between 13 and 15 February.

Valentine's Day was named after Saint Valentine, a priest. 

Emperor Claudius II had banned marriage because he thought married men were bad soldiers. 

Valentine broke the rules and arranged marriages in secret.
When Claudius found out, Valentine was thrown in jail and was executed on February 14th.
