What did Ancient Greece look like?

1. A brand named after the goddess of victory

2. A football club named after a Greek city state

3. A footballclub which is named after a Greek half god who was very strong

4. A footballclub named after a Greek hero

Ouranos the sky and Gaia the earth

Kronos on his way to kill his father

Because of a prophecy Kronos would eat his children so none could overpower him

Rhea hides Zeus on Crete

Zeus would kill his father

And remove all his siblings that were eaten

Geography of Greece

• Many high mountains, rocky ground and islands
• Not much fertile ground to do agriculture 
• Sometimes it was needed to get food from somewhere else
• Colonies were built to solve this problem

City States

• Ancient Greece was not one united state like Egypt was
• It were multiple City States (Polis - Poleis)
• Cities with their own government, coin and army
• Many differences - but also many similarities

Greek gods in the city

• Each Polis had it's own favorite god
• For protection if need be
• The tales of the gods were told by oral tradition
• People would tell each other te tales of the Gods
• Later some tales were written down

What did Ancient Greece look like?

Demeter loved her daughter Persephone very much

Hades, God of the Underworld had an eye on Persephone

And decided to abduct her

Persephone stays with her mother for six months

The rest of the year she's with Hades
