Zoals je weet bestaat er in het Engels een vaste woordvolgorde: wie / doet / wat / waar / wanneer.

 

He - watched - a film - on television - last weekend.

Wie - doet - wat - waar - wanneer

Je kunt ook een adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord) aan een zin toevoegen. Een adjective zegt iets over het zelfstandig naamwoord. Je zet ze dan voor het zelfstandig naamwoord.

He watched a funny film.
They bought a lovely dress.
We had a good time.

Soms zet je een adjective achter het werkwoord. In dat geval geeft de adjective extra informatie over het onderwerp. 
Dit kan bij werkwoorden zoals to be, look, appear en seem.
  

She looks amazing in my new dress.
I am curious to see that new film.
They seem focussed on their singing careers.
