What is the function of blood?  
  • Transports things from one part of your body to the other (oxygen, nutrients)

  • -Helps protect your body from disease (immune system)

Blood composition
-5 liters in your body

-Plasma: water with chemicals 
(antibodies, hormones, sugars, vitamins)

-Blood cells 
(white, red and platelets)

Red  cells
-Carry oxygen
-No nucleus
-Filled with haemoglobin 
(binds oxygen)

Which are red blood cells?

  • red blood cells get trapped

- make antibodies that attack pathogens
1. they stick together
2. they dissolve them
3. they destroy the toxins they make

antibodies stay in your blood and 
make you immune to the disease
