Formal writing in a nutshell
- Formal language = more 'expensive' wording
- No contractions = can't = cannot / won't = will not 
- Do not use questions
- In an essay = do not use 'I'
- Use linking words (First, second)
- Focus on lay-out: Empty line between each paragraph

Essay structure
  1. Introduction: introduce essay topic + thesis statement
  2. First paragraph: either start with your arguments for or against. 
  3. Second paragraph: arguments for the opposite side. 
  4. Conclusion: briefly summarize important points from previous paragraphs. NEVER (!) introduce new arguments. Sometimes, you can give your personal opinion as well.
