Coördinaten

Om een locatie te kunnen aanwijzen heb je twee getallen nodig: de breedtegraad en de lengtegraad (longitude.
Longitude
Latitude

Slide 3 - Slide

Latitude(breedtegraad)
Low latitude means close to the equator.

High latitude means close to the poles.

North of the equator is written with N
South of the equator is written with  S

So the Netherlands has the latitude coordinates 52ºN

Longitude(lengtegraad)
Circles of longitude are imaginary vertical circles around the globe

Slide 6 - Slide

Prime meridian

The prime meridian:
  • Is a circle of longitude
  • Divides the Earth in East and
    West
  • Is at zero°

  • Everything right from the prime meridian is E
  • Everything left from the prime meridian is W

So the Netherlands is on 6ºE
