Homeostasis & water regulation

Slide 1 - Slide

Learning Goals LSN7:
  • I know examples of homeostasis in the human body.
  • I know how our body regulates sugar levels.

Slide 2 - Slide

Apply the sensor-controller-effector model to blood glucose regulation. name all three.

Slide 3 - Open question

Learning Goals LSN8:
  • I know how our body regulates water levels.
  • I can name and explain how nutrients and diets can have an effect on your kidneys

Slide 4 - Slide

Key words:
  • Endocrine system
  • Hypothalamus
  • Pituitary gland
  • Kidney
  • ADH

  • homeostasis
  • negative feedback
  • positive feedback
  • sensor
  • controlor
  • effector

Slide 5 - Slide

Homeostasis
All organs and organ systems working together, creating a balance inside your body.

Negative and positive feedback loops are used to maintain this balance.

Slide 7 - Video

Receptors: The process begins with osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus that monitor blood osmolarity.

Control Center: The hypothalamus serves as the control center, processing the information from the osmoreceptors.

Effector: The posterior pituitary gland is the effector, which either increases or decreases the secretion of ADH.

Response: The kidneys are the final target, adjusting their water reabsorption based on the levels of ADH.

Homework
  • Read the following pages in your textbook:p.104-107
  • Make the assignments LSN8 on classroom and hand them in before the lesson.
  • Study the keywords (using Studygo) and check if you manage the learning goals (by repeating lessonup exercises)
