Modals in the past tense:
would have + past participle
should have + past participle
could have+ past participle
needn't have + past participle

(past participle = verb + -ed/ 3rd irregular)

            Do you remember :
Must + werkwoord = moeten; noodzakelijk zijn verplicht zijn ( the speaker's wants is)
mustn't + werkw.= niet mogen/ verboden zijn

have to = have got  = moeten; noodzakelijk zijn;  verplicht zijn (other people or the situation make it )
ought to + werkw. = should + werkw. = behoren te eigenlijk moeten, het is verstandig of juist
to be allowed to=  toestemming hebben/geven
