Assignments 1&2

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgetting
What he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
He's choking, how, everybody's joking now
The clocks run out, times up, over, blaow!

The trick behind "Jabberwocky":
composed largely of words from a language totally made-up by the poet. Has an air of otherworldliness, as though it were born of a place similar to our own, but just foreign enough to seem enigmatic.
Creating Your Own Nonsense Verse
  • follow the rules of English grammar
  • , feel free to invent as many new words as possible to stand in for your nouns, verbs, adjectives etc..
  • you need not know what every word "really" means;
  • the poem should sound as if it could be translated.
