Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

William Shakespeare is een wereldberoemde dichter, acteur en schrijver van toneelstukken, die leefde in de 16e en 17e eeuw.

Hij schreef onder andere:

  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Hamlet
  • Macbeth


De Globe Theatre was eigendom van de acteurs uit Shakespeare's stukken, Lord Chamberlain's Men.


De originele Globe Theatre stond een paar honderd meter verder op. Hier pastte destijds 3000 toeschouwers in. Ook arme mensen konden naar het theater door de goedkopere staanplekken aan het podium.
