3Tvwo §8.3 (A) and §10.3 (B)

Today's homework:     Math A: §8.3
                                          Math B: §10.3
First a few slides for Math B, in which we browse a little superficially (oppervlakkig) through the paragraph.

                                          Math B: §10.3
First a few slides for Math B, in which we browse a little superficially (oppervlakkig) through the paragraph.

Slide 1 - Slide

After the perpendicular bisector (§10.1),
altitude (§10.2) it is now time for:
Do the
Challenge path
again!

Slide 2 - Slide

Slide 3 - Slide

This is how you make an angle bisector:

Slide 4 - Slide

Multiple choice question,
to be filled in, in the next slide!
(In the next slide I did not key in the options once more, because I learnt from you, that you cannot see them there!)
Which line does not belong in the coming list:
A.    Angle bisector
B.   Perpendicular bisector
C.   Diagonal
D.   Altitude

Slide 5 - Slide

Which does not belong in the list?
A
angle bisector
B
perpendicular bisector
C
diagonal
D
altitude

Slide 6 - Quiz

Answer:
C.   diagonal.
because this line cannot be in a triangle!
Just have a try, hahaha.
In a quadrilateral you might be more succesful!

Slide 7 - Slide

Mistake in 18a and b:
In a and b
not 'plot' and 'draw' are meant, but:
'CONSTRUCT', using the 'perpendicular bisector'
as is shown in the Theory
from the previous slide
(also on page 101!)!

Slide 8 - Slide

Mistake in drawing above:
SX = SZ , it says, but this is clearly not true in the drawing! (SZ is longer)
Never mind, but let it just be said, that the drawing is not accurate.

Slide 9 - Slide

Slide 10 - Slide

The statement below is what you will PROVE in this § !
Good luck doing this.
High time for Math A pupils, doing §8.3 !

Slide 11 - Slide

Math A pupils, here is a Multiple Choice question, to be answered in the next slide!
Which statement(s) is/are
correct?
A. 65 is in the interval, 75 is not
B. 65 is not in the interval, 75 is
C. both boundaries are in the interval
D. neither of the boundaries are in the interval

Slide 12 - Slide

Which statement is correct?
A
65 is in, 75 is not
B
65 is not in, 75 is
C
both are in
D
neither are in the interval

Slide 13 - Quiz

One more M.C. question:
The boundaries (grenzen)
of the 2nd interval are:
A. 200 and 219
B. 199 and 219
C. 200 and 220
D. 199.5 and 219.5

Slide 14 - Slide

Which are the good boundaries?
A
200 and 219
B
199 and 219
C
200 and 220
D
199.5 and 219.5

Slide 15 - Quiz

The Surprising Answer:
D.    199.5 and 219.5 (!)

If this is not quite clear to you,
study exercise 13 once more in the Solutionsbook!

Slide 16 - Slide

Math A: §8.3 measures of spread
In the next slide they talk about: 'mean deviation from the mean'
(if you know what I mean...).
This might seem difficult, so I translate this, for a change:
'de gemiddelde afwijking van het gemiddelde'.
To calculate this, you first calculate the mean.
How to go about further, see next slide (this text is on p.19 too!).

Slide 17 - Slide

A few remarks:
+ 'A measure of spread' = de mate van spreiding
  In this case:
how far off from the mean are all the numbers?
+ The further, the higher 'the measure of spread'!

Slide 18 - Slide

Next comes a 'Theory' with some new words in it.
That makes it seem difficult. It's not.
It is about dividing up some numbers in 4 groups.
When you Study the Example that follows in the next slide -also on p.20- It will become clear, I am sure!

Slide 19 - Slide

Here is the Example - to Study later on, during your work!

Slide 20 - Slide

Homework time.
Good luck, doing §10.3 Measures of spread.
Let me know if you need more explanation.
Do not forget to send me pictures of your homework.
