Answers to "1953: Derek Bentley Hanged for Murder
Wandsworth Prison in London
He was 19 and was hanged at 9:00 in the morning.
He was convicted of murdering PC Miles at a warehouse in Croydon, Surrey.
His co-defendant was Christopher Craig. He was still a juvenile (too young to execute).
They gathered outside the prison and sang the hymn 'Abide with me' and the 23rd Psalm.
Sir David Maxwell Fyfe was the Home Secretary and said that he couldn't see a reason to intervene.

In 1991 the film was released.
Michael Howard granted him a partial pardon in 1993.
