What is TEXTURE?

Texture

Texture is the way something feels, or looks like it might feel.


Texture can be real or implied. 

Real texture is something you can actually feel.

Implied texture only visually looks like it feels a certain way.

Texture can be natural or man-made

Assignment A
You will need: an A3 drawing paper, a ruler and a pencil

Draw 9 squares on the paper like on the example use your ruler to make straight lines. Every square is  5cm and the space in between squares is 1cm.
The row of squares at the bottom are each 2,5 x 2,5 cm.

In every box will be a different structure.
3 skin-structures,
3 artificial structures
3 fantasy structures

For the row at the bottom you choose one of them and draw it from light to dark.

Assignment A
Find textures in your own environment
1. Take photo's of at least 10 different textures. In the classroom, on your way to school, at home etc. 

2. Add these photo's into your portfolio. 

3. Make sure the textures are not too similar. Try to find different types of textures. 

4. Write in your portfolio: what is texture? How are your photo's an example of texture?

5. Work on it today or/and at home

Opdracht C - creepy creature
We maken gezamenlijk een enorm wezen met allerlei gekke texturen. 

1. teken de omtrek van jouw gedeelte van het wezen. Hij loopt van links naar rechts of van boven naar beneden, of in een bocht. Hij is dun of dik, heeft pootjes of niet, of misschien vleugeltjes? Als het maar op je blad past en textuur heeft! De afstand van de lijnen aan de rand is wel vast, anders past het wezen niet aan de rest van zijn lijf. 

2. vul jouw gedeelte van het wezen in met verschillende texturen. Is zijn huid harig, stekelig, hobbelig, bobbelig, ruw of anders? Denk aan herhaling in grootte, afstand, dikte en richting. 

3. Gebruik pen en inkt.
