Future

Toekomst.

Er zijn vier verschillende manieren om de toekomst  aan te geven in het Engels:
1. Present continuous
2. To be going to
3. Shall/Will
4. Present simple

Slide 3 - Slide

Future > 1 present continuous

Vorm: am, are, is + -ing achter het werkwoord

Gebruik: om te praten over afspraken in de toekomst waarvan de tijd/plaats al vaststaat.

He is leaving for New Zealand tomorrow.
I'm meeting Susan at the train station.

Slide 4 - Slide

Future > 2 to be going to

Vorm:

am/are/is (vorm van to be) + going to + hele werkwoord

Gebruik:

- als iemand iets in de toekomst (niet) van plan is
- een voorspelling doen waarvoor je bewijs hebt.

Slide 5 - Slide

Future > 2 to be going to

Examples:

Look! He is going to fall off his bike!
Look at those dark clouds. It is going to rain
am not going to hike tomorrow. I am too tired to hike.

Slide 6 - Slide

Future > 3 shall/will

Vorm: will/shall + hele werkwoord

Bij vragen waar je I en We gebruikt, moet je shall gebruiken.
Shall we go by taxi?

In alle andere vragen gebruik je will
Will they buy a new house?

Slide 7 - Slide

Future > 3 shall/will
Gebruik:
- spontane reacties "There is someone at the door. Wait I will open it"

- bij beloftes "I promise I will keep this a secret"
- bij aankondigingen/besluiten "I will be a teacher when I'm older"
- voorspellingen doen waarvoor je geen bewijs hebt "It will rain tomorrow"

Slide 8 - Slide

Future > 4 present simple
Vorm:
1. hele werkwoord bij I, you, we, you, they
2. ww + s bij he, she, it.
