Why skimming?
To read and understand faster!

- Know what kind of text it is.
    Examples: fiction story, news article or a blog

- Get the main idea fast, especially for long texts.

- Decide if the text is important or interesting for you to read.

Skimming, what is it?
A reading strategy that helps us find the main idea of a text- fast!

When do we skim?
- Before we read for details.
- When we have a lot to read but not much time.

How do we skim?
                                               Only read the important parts!
- Read the title, subtitles and subheadings to find out what the text is about.
- Look at images/ fotos 
- Read the first and last sentence of each paragraph.
Look out for key words ( sleutel woorden). Don’t read every word or every sentence. 
- Look for words printed in a different style.
