In de verleden tijd is ‘(to) think’ dus niet ‘thinked’, maar ‘thought’.

Overview of the rules!


Past simple regular verbs:
  • Bij regelmatige werkwoorden in de past simple zet je -ed achter de stam. 
  • Uitzonderingen: Er zijn 4 uitzonderingen waarbij je niet zomaar '-ed' achter de stam kan plakken. 

Past simple irregular verbs:
  • Bij onregelmatige werkwoorden in de past simple vervoeg je elk werkwoord op een andere manier. 
  • Uitzondering: to be. Bij to be heb je 2 vormen in de verleden tijd: was/were.
