  • Where are you going to do your internship (stage) after the Summer? 
  • What was your experience with finding/contacting an internship and why?
  • How did you contact this company? 
  • Why did you choose this company?
  • What are you hoping to learn there?
  • What are your positive qualities? What are you good at?
  • If you don't have an internship yet, what is the reason you haven't found one yet and what companies seem fun to you?

Discuss in pairs. Flip roles. (2 mins per person)

Writing: Internship request
At the start of year 2 you are going to start your second internship (stage).

You are going to write an e-mail to your internship company. 

If you have already found one: great job! You can write to this company.
If you have not found an internship yet, you can make the company up (zelf verzinnen).

Hard vs Soft Skills
Om een stageplek te overtuigen dat ze jou moeten kiezen, is het belangrijk dat je over jezelf vertelt en kunt beschrijven wat je sterke eigenschappen zijn. 

Deze kun je opdelen in soft skills (persoonlijke vaardigheden) en hard skills (technische/praktische skills). We gaan nu even oefenen met de belangrijkste soft/hard skills in het Engels. Deze kun je straks in je motivatiebrief gebruiken.

Start your e-mail. Include the following:
  • Open the e-mail in a professional manner.
  • Introduce yourself and share 2 personal details.
  • Ask if there is availability for a position and also ask about pay.
  • Explain why you choose this company and what your want to learn at the internship.
  • Convince the company with 5 reasons (hard / soft skills from the Quizlet) why you are a great fit for this job!
  • Close the e-mail in a professional manner.
