Questions with to be or modal verb: can, may, will
Zet de form van to be aan het begin van de zin.
Zet het hulpwerkwoord(modal verb) aan het begin van de zin

You are not present. -> Are you not present?
She is happy-> Is she happy?
I can drive a car -> Can I drive a car?

Questions with do/does
Als er alleen een hoofdwerkwoord in de zin staat, zet je do of does voor de zin. Let op! Bij he, she, it gebruik je does en MOET je de -S/-ES/-IES weghalen, dus Does -onderwerp- HELE WERKWOORD.He hurries to school- Does he hurry to school?
I/you/we/they= do
You own a car. -> Do you own a car?
He/she/it= does
It rains a lot. -> Does it rain a lot?

Negations in een zin met een hoofdwerkwoord
Zet het woord do not/does not voor het werkwoord
Let op! De -s/-es/-ies verdwijnt weer bij de derde persoon enkelvoud (he, she, it)
I like apples.
I do not like apples.
She runs fast.
She does not run fast.

Zet het woordje not achter het hulpwerkwoord; can, will, may
The water is cold
The water is not cold
I can't swim/ I cannot swim.
I will help you/ I will not (won't) help you.
