Design and build a vehicle that drives at least 2,0 meters by itself

The project

• Design and build a vehicle that can drive at least 2,00 meters by itself

• The car that covers the largest distance, wins a prize

• The car that looks best, wins another prize

• The current record stands at 14,50 meter.

Requirements

• Should drive at least 2,00 meters by itself

• Use at least 3 different materials

• Maximum 30 cm length.

• It should look like a vehicle

• You have only 5 classes. So keep it simple!!!

Crash course cars

• Chassis: wheels, steering wheel, frame

• Powertrain: motor, elastic, ..

• Body: the outside

Think first, then act!

1. Brainstorm, google, discuss. Come up with alternatives and choose the best.

2. Plan What you will build, and HOW you will build it.

3. Design: sketch and make technical drawings

4. Building plan: materials, division of tasks

5. Building, testing

6. Allow time for improvement. It won’t work first time.

How will you be judged?

• Functionality: does the car drive > 2 meters? (4p)

• Design and choice of materials: smart and well ? (2p)

• Electric Circuit (2p)

• Cooperation and work attitude (2p)

Final time saving tips

• The wheels: find something big and round, wooden wheels won’t work.

• The powertrains. Think before you build. Try, try, try.

• Divide the tasks: who is technical, who is creative?

• Give your car a cute nickname!
