What should you be able to do as a counterfeiter?

Goal: learn as much as possible about your master and the way he/she works.
Form: work out your research on paper

1. Start your Research
2. Start with the general information:
- Title of the artwork
- Name of the creator
- Info about the artist, about his life and his work.
- Info about the material and techniques used by the artist.
3. Try to find answers to the following questions.
- What makes this artist unique?
- To which style or movement does this artist belong?
- What are the characteristics of that movement?
- Why did he choose this way of working?
- Was this artist popular among his audience in his time?
4. End with a fun fact or fact about this artist.

Goal: to create a landscape in the style of your master
Supplies: a photo of ... (taken by yourself, a holiday photo, a portrait etc., or from the internet)
sketch paper A4, pencil & aquarel paint

1. Create a sketch:
Sketch your landscape in the style of your master.
You can take this photo yourself, use an old holiday photo or search the internet.
Draw this picture as closely as possible, in the style of your master.

How will you create an artwork in the style of your master?
What are the characteristics of your master that make you come back?
What colors or techniques will you use?
And do you need certain tricks or tools?

Duration: 4 lessons
Goal: create a landscape on A3 in the style of your master.
Requirements: A3, pencil, aquarel paint, ink

1. Start drawing
- take your picture and sketch from last time as an example
- sketch the scenery in outline with pencil on paper
- also draw the most striking details with pencil
- add attributes of your master

2. Start painting
- dilute your paint with water (unless you want the brush strokes/dots to be visible)
- work in the same style as your master.
- pay close attention to the use of color and painting technique for similarity
