LIKE / AS

Like en as worden gebruikt om een vergelijking te maken tussen twee mensen of dingen. 

LIKE

Like wordt gebruikt om iets te zeggen over zelfstandig naamwoorden en persoonlijke voornaamwoorden.

Dit betekent dat je like gebruikt om iets te zeggen over:

- Hoe een persoon of ding iets doet.

- Hoe een persoon of ding eruit ziet.

As

As gebruik je voor bijzinnen en in combinatie met voorzetsels.

Dit betekent dat je as gebruikt om iets te zeggen over:

- Waarvoor iets gebruikt wordt.

- Het beroep dat iemand beoefent.

- De tijd waarin iets gebeurt.

Voorbeelden

Like:

it fits like a glove. (hoe iets gedaan wordt)

She is acting like a queen. (hoe iets gedaan wordt)

As:

As in the past year, I am going to France. (voorzetsel: in)

I work as a teacher at an elementary school. (beroep: teacher)

He cooks ______ a chef.

Articles: The

We kennen in het Nederlands drie lidwoorden: de, het, een.

In het Engels zijn er twee lidwoorden: the, a.

Vandaag gaan we meer leren over het gebruik van the, dit wordt in het Nederlands vertaald met de of het.

Let op: In het Engels wordt niet altijd een lidwoord gebruikt!

The wordt niet gebruikt bij:

• Jaargetijden
• Maaltijden
  
• Leden van een groep
  
• Achter: Both, All en Most
  
• Voor: titels
  
• Aardrijkskundige plekken
  
• Vaste uitdrukkingen 

The wordt wel gebruikt bij: 

• Als het gaat over iets specifieks of bijzonders!
• Als het gaat over een hele groep.
• Als een naam zelf een lidwoord bevat.
• In sommige vast uitdrukkingen (Let op: betekenis kan veranderen)
