Chase

Chase Ambrose is a middle-school football star who falls from his roof and has a concussion, giving him amnesia. With almost no memories, he can’t even recognize his mother, Tina, or his brother, Johnny. Tina, Johnny, and Chase’s doctor want Chase to avoid football for a year, but Chase’s macho father, Frank, disregards this medical advice and insists that Chase should play.

Shosanna

She is an outspoken, proudly nerdy girl and the most ambitious member of her middle school’s video club. At first, Shoshanna hates her classmates Chase, Aaron, and Bear for bullying her twin brother, Joel, so badly that their parents sent Joel away to boarding school. She hears about Chase’s fall over the summer but doesn’t realize he has amnesia at first. 

Brendan

Brendan Espinoza, the president of his middle school’s video club, is a bullying victim of Chase , Aaron , and Bear , friend of fellow video club members Shoshanna and Joel , and eventual boyfriend of Kimberly. When Chase returns to school after a concussion causing amnesia, he sits with Brendan at lunch. Brendan quickly realizes Chase is nicer than he used to be.  

Mr. Solway

Mr. Solway is a sarcastic, lonely Korean War veteran who won a Medal of Honor for opening an enemy tank and killing the enemy soldiers inside with a grenade. He lives in the assisted living facility where Chase and his (former) friends are sentenced to community service. When Chase steals the meda, Mr. Solway assumes he lost it: a childless widower, he believes he’s gone cognitively downhill since his wife died.

Synopsis

Chase's memory just went out the window. Chase doesn't remember falling off the roof.He doesn't, in fact, remember anything. He wakes up in a hospital room and suddenly has to learn his whole life all over again . . . starting with his own name. He knows he's Chase. But who is Chase? When he gets back to school, he sees that different kids have very different reactions to his return. Some kids treat him like a hero.

Some kids are clearly afraid of him.  Restart is the spectacular story of a kid with a messy past who has to figure out what it means to get a clean start.
