Prepositions

Prepositions zijn voorzetsels. 

We behandelen twee soorten: 

Prepositions of place: deze zeggen iets over waar iets gebeurt.

Prepositions of movement: deze zeggen iets over waar je/iets naar toe gaat. 

Preposition of place

In                           -        in   (in school, in the supermarket)

on                          -       op  (on the table, on top of the hill, letterlijk)

at                           -       bij (at the restaurant, at the shop)

from                     -       uit/vanaf (from the station, from the start)

next to                 -      naast (next to the TV, next to the bar)

in front of           -      voor (in front of the tv, in front of the office)

behind                 -      achter (behind the scenes, behind the door)

Prepositions of place

Besides            -     naast    (But besides that it's okay)

Between          -     tussen  (it's between the TV and the chair)

among              -     tussen  (he's among friends)

above                -     boven    (It's above the stove) 

over                    -     boven    (recht naar boven: Go over that hill.) 

below                -      onder   (Lager dan: It's 20 degrees below zero.)

under                -      onder    (Recht onder: It's under the bed.)

Prepositions of movement/direction 

by                      -  naar

from                -  vandaan

over                  -  over 

to                       -  naar

through          -  door

across             -  over 

towards          -  naartoe

Preposition of direction:

Third conditional

We gebruiken de third conditional om te praten over iets wat zou zijn gebeurd of had kunnen gebeuren ALS je in het verleden een andere keuze had gemaakt. Je kunt dit niet meer veranderen. 

If I had studied harder, I would have passed the test. (But I didn't, so I failed.) 

Vormen: 

Bijzin met if (voorwaarde)	Hoofdzin (gevolg)	Gebruik
If + past perfect If I hadn't spent all my money on snacks,	would have + voltooid deelwoord I would have been able to buy tickets for the concert.	iets wat zeker gebeurd zou zijn als je een andere keuze had gemaakt.
If + past perfect If I had played better in that important match,	could / might have + voltooid deelwoord I might have become a professional football player.	iets wat mogelijk gebeurd zou zijn als je een andere keuze had gemaakt.

Fill the gaps, use the Third Conditional:
