Please pay attention to the word 'almost'. 

Een synoniem heeft 'ongeveer' dezelfde betekenis. Soms is er een duidelijk verschil 'warm-hot', vaak is het een gevoelsmatig verschil 'beautiful-gorgeous'.

Pitfalls Reading/Listening Exam

• Valkuil 1: het staat wel in de tekst maar wordt niet gevraagd.
• Oplossing: intensief lezen van de vraag en onbekende woorden opzoeken.
• Valkuil 2: het is misschien wel zo, maar het staat er niet (eigen mening/aanname).
• Oplossing: intensief lezen vraag daarna eigen antwoord formuleren.
• Valkuil 3: gebruik van synoniemen (geeft verwarring)

• Oplossing: zoeken naar synoniemen in de tekst.

Pitfalls = valkuilen.

Think of more interesting words to replace overused, less imaginative adjectives such as: 

happy, sad, hot, cold, small, big

These words are referred to as dead words "a word in the English language that is overused”.
