Easter in Australia is very similar to Easter in other parts of the world, but there is one big difference: the Easter Bunny. While rabbits are loved in many countries, they are not very popular in Australia.
Rabbits arrived with the first European ships to Australia and quickly became a problem. They spread very fast, damaged the land, and caused many native Australian animals to become extinct.
Because of this, many Australians celebrate with the Easter Bilby instead of the Easter Bunny. The bilby is a small, native animal with big ears. It has become a symbol for protecting Australia’s wildlife.
