1. If the word has:..... one syllable
                                .....two syllables ending at -y, -le, -ow, of -er (with the emphasis on the first                                                                                                                                             syllable)
                                   then you use -er and -est
        large- larger- the largest
        clever- cleverer- the cleverest
        handy - handier- the handiest

2. Longer words:... more - and most -
expensive - more expensive - the most expensive
