Slide 1 - Open question
What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the variety of life in any given area.
Biodiversity can change depending on climate, environment and land mass in an area.
This is mesured by the number of species that live in an area.
Slide 2 - Slide
What is Biodiversity?
A
All the same animals.
B
All the same plants.
C
The variety of life that live in an area.
D
When all organisms are dead.
Slide 3 - Quiz
Why is Biodiversity important?
Organisms are use to living together in communities.
Living creatures make it possible for other living organisms to live. Should one species become extinct(die), then another may also be in danger.
IMPORTANT: Life depends on life.
Slide 4 - Slide
What can happen to other living organisms if one species dies?
A
The others will be happy.

Slide 8 - Open question
What happens if biodiversity is threatened?
When biodiversity is threatened there are three impacts…
Extinction: the disappearance of a species when the last of its members die.
Slide 9 - Slide
What happens if biodiversity is threatened?
2. Threatened Species: when the population of a species begins to decline rapidly, it is said to be threatened.
Slide 10 - Slide
What happens if biodiversity is threatened?
3. Endangered Species: when a species numbers becomes so low that extinction is possible, it is said to be endangered.
