WHAT ARE TAG QUESTIONS?

De question tag gebruik je in het Nederlands als je hè, toch of nietwaar gebruikt. De regel is als volgt;

1. Is de hoofdzin bevestigend dan is de tag ontkennend.

             Vb. He is good, isn't he?

             Is de hoofdzin ontkennend dan is de tag bevestigend.

             Vb. He isn't good, is he?

QUESTION TAGS - 2

2. Staat er in de hoofdzin een hulpwerkwoord (vormen van "be, can, must, will" enz) dan maak je met datzelfde hulpwerkwoord een tag.

             Vb. He can help me, can't he?

             Staat er geen hulpwerkwoord in de zin dan maak je een tag met een vorm van "do".

             Vb. They watch TV, don't they?

QUESTIONS TAGS - 3

Let op: Staat de hoofdzin in de tegenwoordige tijd dan staat de tag ook in de tegenwoordige tijd. Staat de hoofdzin in de verleden tijd dan staat de tag ook in de verleden tijd.

           

             Vb. The man watches TV, doesn't he?

                     The man watched TV, didn't he?

LINKING WORDS - VOEGWOORDEN

Met voegwoorden verbind je twee zinnen en geef je het verband tussen deze twee zinnen aan.

because, as, for, since (want, omdat)

Met because, as, for en since geef je een reden of oorzaak aan.

- She left him, because/as/for/since she didn't love him.

- Ze ging bij hem weg, want ze hield niet van hem.

- Since he is happy, he has a smile on his face.

- Omdat hij blij is, heeft hij een lach op zijn gezicht.

and (en), or (of)

Met and geef je een opsomming aan.

- In my opinion, Andre Agassi and Roger Federer are the best tennis players ever.

- Naar mijn mening zijn Andre Agassi en Roger Federer de beste tennissers ooit.

Met or geef je een keuze aan.

- Do you like to have coffee or tea?

- Wil je koffie of thee?

Met so en so that geef je een gevolg aan.

- I go to the gym three times a week, so (that) I stay healthy and fit!

- Ik ga drie keer per week naar de sportschool, zodat ik gezond en fit blijf!

but, though, although, even though, however

Met but (maar), though (hoewel, alhoewel), although (hoewel, alhoewel), even though (ondanks dat) en however (echter) geef je een tegenstelling aan.

- They are strong, but/though/however we are smart.

- Zijn zijn sterk, maar wij zijn slim.
