Difference say and tell
Tell --> when you want to mention who is spoken to
'Mrs Nowak, I am paying attention', said Kevin
Kevin told Mrs Nowak he was paying attention.

Say --> don't usually mention the person who is spoken to 
'Mrs Nowak, I'm happy', said Kevin
Kevin said he was happy.
