Much:

Used with uncountable nouns.​

Used a lot in negative sentences and not so much in affirmative sentences (use a lot of/lots of in affirmative sentences).​



Examples:​

We didn't spend much money.​

We spent a lot of money.
Many:

Used with plural nouns.​

Can be used in all types of sentences.​



Examples:​

There aren't many tourists here.​

There aren't a lot of tourists here.
