What's the idea?
Topic: what the text is about.
Main idea:  the point the author is trying to make about the topic.
Topic sentence: sentence that clearly states the main idea. Usually the first or last sentence of a text/paragraph.

How: Individually

Finished: Writing assignment: Read The Flypaper. Write down at least 10 words that are unfamiliar to you. Try to guess the meaning first, then look up the meaning using an online dictionary.
Write a short story in which you incorporate the 10 words you've written down. Use between 200-250 words.

Hand in the list of words and your short story. You will be graded on your writing.
