Listening Strategies
  1. Broad listening: you listen in order to understand the main idea of the text.
  2. Specific listening: you want to find out specific details, for example key words.
  3. Detailed listening: you want to understand all the information the text provides.

Take out your personal goals & have a look at what you wrote down. What could you do to prepare for the listening test? 

Discuss with your neighbour (2 min).

How to Prepare on the Spot?
Think about the topic of the text you are going to listen to. 
  • What do you know about the topic?
  • Which words come to mind that you already know?
  • What type of topic is it?
