تعد كارثة المكوك " شالنجر" أحد اكثر الايام كآبة في تاريخ ناسا  فبعد إطلاقه بدقيقة واحدة انفجر و تسبب في مقتل جميع من  كانوا على متنه ,و بالرغم أن ناسا قدمت خطوات كبيرة للإنسانية إلا انها ضئيلة مقارنة بالمستقبل , و ما زال هناك سعي وراء المزيد من الاكتشافات و المعرفة
