What is a Haiku?

Haiku is an ancient form of poetry which originates in Japan. It's often themed around nature and feelings about the natural world. 

it follows a set pattern. 

Haiku rules to writing

For today's lesson

- you are going to write a haiku about Valentine's Day. 

- you can use your iPad to write your haiku

For the next twenty minutes:

- Write your Haiku about Valentine's day

- if you have any questions you can ask me

- when you're done, try to get started on the poetry project.

- I will ask some of you to read your haiku's out loud at the end of class.
