Possessives -> 's 

Wanneer -->'s :

- bij personen en dieren  ->  Peter's car. 

                                                           The dog's tail is long.

- bij landen -> England's capital.

Dus nooit the car of Peter / the tail of the dog/ the capital of England

- bij uitdrukkingen van tijd  -> an hour's walk 

                                                                yesterday's paper

Possessives -> '

Wanneer --> ' 

Soms moet je de -s- weglaten en schrijf je alleen een ' . Wanneer?

- bij  mv eindigend op een -s  -> The boys'  bikes. 

                                                                   A two weeks' holiday.

Possessives -> ..of..

Wanneer :

- bij dingen -> The door of the car

                               The roof of the house
