You use it when you want to tell someone what someone else said.

Jim's mother: "Jim isn't at home."
Jim's mother said that Jim wasn't at home.

ACTIVITY TIME - Part 1
1. STAND UP
2. Walk around and ask questions from the worksheet
3. If someone answers 'yes' write down their name. You are not allowed to            use the same name twice or to use your own name.
    If someone answers 'no' move on and find someone else
4. Write down more information if that's possible. For example: 'has a pet' -         what kind of pet?
5. Answered every question? Sit back down.

ACTIVITY TIME - Part 2
1. Work in groups
2. Report back the information you found out about your classmates to your group without saying their name. Instead you use indirect speech "someone said that..."
3. Your group tries to guess who said it. Correct? 1 point for that person!
4. The person with the most points wins!
